This particular Cirebon batik is decorated with a modern version of a motif called Pecutan, characterised by stark flower shapes adorned with small leaves. This design is also sometimes known as bungo rambat, or “creeping flowers.” The origins of this motif belong the Ciwaringin villagers who have existed since ancient times.
